Immersive 3D Audio System for 3D Media |

This research falls within the field of audio processing for both directional and conventional loudspeakers. This unique combination of these loudspeakers leads to an immersive and engaging sound field that is targeted to 3D media, which is not possible with existing audio systems. Using the unique combination of loudspeakers, this research aims to deliver an audio system that is suitable for desktop PC (as our entry market). This work involves several fields of research namely distortion reduction in directional loudspeakers, virtual bass enhancement for conventional loudspeakers (small sized) and signal extraction. Prototyping of the proposed audio system involves implementation on advanced digital signal processor as well as customization of the directional loudspeakers.
